Native recomps for the games already on your shelf

Every build here is a static recompilation: the original game code translated to run natively on PC, with widescreen, high frame rates and modern controls. We host the engine. You bring your own disc.

The resident fox

Yes, this whole site was vibecoded. So were a fair few of the recomps. I typed a wish, an AI granted it, and nobody had to read a single linker error out loud.

Then I played every build start to finish anyway, because I have standards and suspicious paws.

01 / Download

Grab the recomp

Each download contains only the recompiled code and tools. No game assets, no ROMs, no ISOs.

Lovingly vibecoded. Suspiciously well-behaved.

02 / Dump

Dump your own disc

Rip the game from a disc or cartridge you own, using your console or a compatible drive.

This step is all you. Even foxes can't conjure your copy.

03 / Play

Point it at your dump

On first launch the recomp checks the hash, pulls the assets it needs, and you're in.

If it doesn't, that's a bug, and we actually want to hear about it.

The library

Loading builds…

Stable: played to the credits, more than once Beta: the vibes mostly hold Still vibing: playable, with known rough edges listed

Check your disc

Drop in your dump and we'll compute its SHA-1 right here in your browser, then tell you which recomp it works with. Your file never leaves your computer.

The hashing is done by your browser's own crypto library, which was very much not vibecoded. It's correct. You can relax.

Handles files up to about 1 GB in most browsers. For larger ISOs, run sha1sum yourgame.iso and compare against the hash on each card.

About the vibes

We're not hiding it. We're not apologising for it either. Here's what it actually means for you.

Vibecoded

Written with an AI, fully on purpose

The code came from prompting, iterating and occasionally pleading. It's a legitimate way to build things now, and pretending otherwise would be the weird part.

Playtested

Played by an actual human, with care

Every build is played start to finish on real dumps before it goes up. Saves, settings, controllers, cutscenes, the boring bits. All of it.

Honest

Known issues stay on the label

If something's wonky, the card says so. "Still vibing" means exactly that. Nothing gets marked stable until it's earned it.

Questions

Wait, this was vibecoded? Should I be worried?

About as worried as you'd be about any hobby project, which is to say: back up your saves, like always. The code was written with AI help; the testing wasn't. Every build gets a full playthrough before release, and anything that misbehaves gets fixed or clearly flagged.

Why do I need my own disc?

The recomps contain no copyrighted game data. They load models, textures, audio and text from a dump of a copy you own, so nothing from the original game is ever distributed here.

My hash doesn't match. What now?

Most recomps target one specific region and revision. Check the card for the expected version, and make sure your dump is uncompressed and unpatched. Byte-swapped N64 dumps (.v64, .n64) need converting to .z64 first.

I found a bug. Is it a feature?

No. Vibes are not a warranty, but they're not an excuse either. Report it with your OS, the recomp version and what you were doing, and it'll get looked at.

Which systems do the builds run on?

Each card lists its own builds. Most ship for Windows and Linux (AppImage or Flatpak), and several also have native macOS builds for Apple silicon.

Can I submit a recomp?

Yes, as long as the download contains no game assets and the source is public. Vibecoded is welcome. Untested is not: tell us how far you've played it.
